For the fifth year, we have been invited to play for the quick and the dead at Hollywood Cemetery. The Friends of Hollywood Cemetery Picnic is May 7 and we start at 1:00 p.m. and will go to about 3:30 p.m., with another vocal group standing in between our two sets. Free and kid friendly! Y’all come!
Oak Lane will be first on the bill at the Party On The Avenues held by the
Westhampton Merchants Association on October 2, at Libbie and Grove Avenues. We start at noon. Band will consist of Tim, Russell, Andy and Massie. Come see us!
It was a beautiful (somewhat chilly) Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks back at Historic St. John’s Church on the corner of East Broad and 24th Streets in Richmond’s most historic district. We had a great time and Ian Currie, who ran sound for us that day, took this nice shot of us on the west side of the church.
Oak Lane is heading over the hill…well, up the hill, actually, Church Hill. We will play at the St. John’s Church Foundation picnic on October 18, that’s a Sunday. The gathering is in the afternoon (after church, naturally) and we expect a good crowd of supporters for this fine institution. Maybe we’ll see you there.
Oak Lane will make an appearance for the Friends of Hollywood Cemetery at their annual spring picnic May 4. We’ll be in the glade just down the road from the main entrance, and there is plenty of room to spread out a blanket and have a picnic with your family. We’ll post the set list soon, so check back!
On October 19, you can see us when we play at “From Church Hill With Love” up on the St. John’s Church property cresting Church Hill. We will be one of three bands that evening, so plenty of music to choose from. This is a fund raiser for the church’s outreach ministries, but also a gift to the parish and community. The festivities will begin about 5:00 PM, with barbeque, bluegrass (that’s us! and more!) and beer. Come on up the Hill to 23rd and Broad.
October must be church month, because we’ve got half our gigs scheduled in connection with church events! On October 19, you can see us when we play at “From Church Hill With Love” up on the St. John’s Church property cresting Church Hill. The festivities will begin about 5:00 PM, with barbeque, bluegrass (that’s us! and more!) and beer. Come on up the Hill to 23rd and Broad.
Hey, look, we’re in the picture from last year on the home page page! In the back with the instruments. Cool.
